If you use AUTOSSL and get a 404 error, but there is no DCV created and hence you get a 404 error, please check if the domain in question has AAAA records (ipv6)
If this is the case, check in WHM if the domain has IPv6 enabled. if not, enable it, and try to create the autossl again.
