Some clients like to edit files locally before uploading them to the server, the files they want to edit can be any type of text file i.e. raw-html or css stylesheets to complex php scripts or java scripts.
We personally love to use PSPpad for editing our local files; as this is freeware you can download it for free from: http://www.pspad.com/
