Unsupported mail clients Print

  • outlook, live mail, windows mail
  • 0

Please note that on new servers your mail client may no longer connect to our mail servers;
this is because those mail clients are no longer supported by their developer (Microsoft) and simply are using outdated and insecure SSL communication.

Affected are:

  • Any version of outlook on windows 7 systems or below. (except some enterprise versions with extended support contacts with Microsoft directly).
  • Any version lower as outlook 2016 on any version of windows.
  • Any windows live mail application. ( this was a free product, hence often used, but since 2015 no longer supported by Microsoft).

As Microsoft does not update these versions to be compatible with a secure SSL certificate they are marked as EOL by them (End of Life), no support will be provided for them, nor will they receive new protocols and thus secure transmission. Please note that according to the GDPR a secure connection is needed and thus using such application may violate your GDPR compliancy.
