Go to: File - Site manager

Click on the button: New Site, you will not see a new entry in your site
manager in blue, you can now name it the way you like; we call it
yoursite.tld
in our example.

After confirming the name by pressing enter you can fill in the fields on the
right;

Host: ftp.yoursite.tld
Port: 21

Server Type:  FTPES - (File Transfer over explicit TLS/SSL)
More about different configuration types can be found here: http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Network_Configuration

Note that FTPES will build up a secure connection, a security certificate will popup for the server. You can choose to accept it for all future connections to this FTP session, or you can choose to see the certificate each time you login. When choosing a normal FTP connection your details will be send plaintext over
the line, while this is in general faster it also could be problematic as the data is not send encrypted over the internet. Please select under “Transfer Settings” the connection to : Passive

Logon type: Normal
User: your username
Password: your password

This is all you have to do.
